FAQ
Frequently asked questions
about the AnyBrowser desktop browser.
How
is AnyBrowser different from any other browser?
Typically a browser does everything possible to render a page
in the way
that it thinks it would. If a page is well structured it is easy
to render
it. However it's the cases there the end user does experience
the web site
as the author intended. This can happen for a number of reasons.
- HTML is not correctly structured
- The HTML does not follow the specification
- The HTML exceeds the capability of the browser.
In these cases a normal browser does it's best to display something
ineligible. The normal process to try viewing your site in a few
browsers
and see how it looks. This is known as the empirical approach.
The problem
with this approach is that you can still have problem with your
site, but it
just does not manifest itself in the particular browser you choose
to use.
Another approach to in insure that your site will be viewable
is to follow
the specifications correctly. All browsers start by implementing
the
specifications. Where they a lot of additional work is handling
pages that
fall outside the specification. Your pages can still look perfect
in some
browsers' even it they are formed incorrectly. These browsers
go out of
their way to make you pages look presentable. The AnyBrowser goes
out of it's way to
break your pages. If you pages look good with the AnyBrowser that
will gives you a
good idea that they will look good to others.
Does AnyBrowser 2.0 support JavaScript?
No. This will give you an idea of how someone can use your site
if JavaScript is turned of in their browser. JavaScript is commonly
turned off by users to prevent pop-up ads and other annoying features
used on may sites. JavaScript compatibility is beyond the scope
of the AnyBrowser spec at this time.
Does AnyBrowser 2.0 support Style Sheets?
No. Style sheets are not part of the AnyBrowser III specification.
Why do some selection boxes have to many spaces between text?
AnyBrowser does not handle return in selection fields properly.
It's a problem with the browser and not with your page. If you'd
like to fix it, just replace returns with spaces.
